Charcoal is a lightweight black carbon residue produced by strongly heating wood (or other animal and plant materials) in minimal oxygen to remove all water and volatile constituents. The soot and smoke commonly given off by wood fires result from incomplete combustion of those volatiles.
USES
- Charcoal acts as an excellent soil conditioner as it has high potassium content and low cost, it’s a suitable replacement of lime in soil additive mixes.
- Neutralizes plant poison in the soil
- Used as fillers for filling pots as it is light weight than rocks and gravels (used at the bottom of pots)
- charcoal brings down the nauseating odors of compost and manure, while leaving the nutritional integrity of the mixture intact. You can even add a few charcoal pellets to your potting mix, in case the smell becomes too much to bear.
- Herbicide Neutralization
- Pesticide Cleanup and Removal
- Charcoal Mulch – Mulching with charcoal can be just as effective. It creates a protective covering over the soil surface while preventing moisture from escaping the soil.
- Anti-Fungal Protection
- Organic Insect Killer
