About Bilumbi Green (ഇരുമ്പന് പുളി)
Commonly-known as bilimbi or tree sorrel (Averrhoa bilimbi) is a fruit-bearing tree of the genus Averrhoa, family Oxalidaceae. The trunk and branches of the tree have to be exposed to sunlight for fruits to form (traditional knowledge), which is achieved by removing leaves except for the branch end.
It grows well in tropical regions to a height of 4 to 8 meters. The leaves are pinnately compound and slightly hairy leaflets ranging from 10-35. Flowers are reddish-purple in color, found on the trunk (cauline), and branches in clusters. The fruits are oblong, fleshy, looking like a tender cucumber that’s why it is called a Cucumber tree. The fruits are yellow when they ripe and have very juicy and sour in taste. The thin outer glossy skin surrounds the tender green flesh of the acidic, juicy, jelly-like fruit.
In India, it is used for making pickles and to make fish curry, especially with Sardines, while around Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa the fruit is commonly eaten raw with salt and spice. It can make chutney and it also is made into a rather sweet jam.
Bilimbi Juice is used medicinally throughout Asia. The fruit juice has a high concentration of oxalic acid which is useful for cleaning and bleaching. Infused leaf of bilimbi can be used for a cough while leaf decoction can give soothe to rectal inflammation.
The leaves of the bilimbi tree are also used as a treatment relief for skin itches, swellings of mumps, and rheumatism. It can also be a good alternative remedy for insect and animal bites.
The leaves are applied as a poultice on itches, swellings of mumps and rheumatism, and on skin problems.

For a seamless replacement process, we recommend capturing a video or picture while unboxing the parcel. This not only expedites the resolution but also aids us in comprehending the specific types of damages caused by our courier vendors.
Occasionally, plants may experience a temporary dullness or leaf drop during transportation due to factors such as insufficient sunlight and water.
Kindly follow our plant care instructions and closely monitor its condition for the next 15-20 days. This period will allow the plant to rejuvenate and regain its strength, returning to a healthy state.
Immediate repotting or re-planting of delivered plants can induce stress on them.
We recommend maintaining the plants in the original bag upon receipt and consistently watering them for the initial two weeks. Additionally, place the plants in an area with 50% sunlight during this period. After the plants have acclimated to your climate and achieved stability, you may proceed to repot them into larger containers or directly into the field.
We regret to inform you that we do not support cash on delivery for plant orders. This decision is based on the fact that in the event of order rejection, it takes a minimum of 15 days for the plants to return to the nursery. This delay poses a risk of permanent damage or loss to the plants.
