Mint is a common herb that has been used in the kitchen in salads, iced tea, cocktails, biriyani, pulao, and so on. Not only does the herb have impressive flavor and fragrance but also has numerous health benefits, especially for digestive issues. People grow the plant as an air freshener also. Next time when buying the mint, don’t lose the stem part, instead, use the cuttings to grow new plants. By doing so, we can stop depending on the vegetable market and consume a fresh and chemical-free mint herb.
The herb can be harmful to other plants nearby if the plant is allowed to grow on soil without any restrictions. So, it is advisable to grow the plant in a pot, grow bag, or vase to avoid such situations. For better performance of the plant light soil and better drainage in the pot but moist, require. Though they need sunlight, too much sunlight will damage the plant, and most of the varieties tolerate some shades. It doesn’t need ultra-care as for some plants but make sure it gets enough water to make the soil moist.
Harvest mint as soon as they come to ripeness. The young ones have more flavor and smell than older leaves. There is no need for proper harvesting of the herbs, you can pick the leaves as per your requirement.
Later the cutting can be transferred to grow bags or other containers. For better and sudden growth organic fertilisers such as composts or cow dried manure can be used. The herb doesn’t need constant care. Always check the growth if the herb is planted in the ground because once the plant is settled in its new place it will begin to grow and can damage the surrounding plants by sucking nutrients and fertilisers of the other plants.
