Jeevamrutham or Jeevamrut is a way of caring for plants proposed by Padma Shri Subhash Palekar. His technique is known as Subhash Palekar Natural Farming (SPNF). It was known before as Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF). Jeevamrutham is based on the theory that microorganisms in nature are needed for a plant to grow. It denounces the use of any chemical ingredients as pesticides or fertilisers. The method advocates that the use of chemicals in the field kills the microorganisms in the soil, making the soil live and fertile.
