A large acidic custard apple with white fibrous flesh.

The Soursop tree (Annona Muricata), indigenous to the rainforest regions, is a broadleaf, evergreen tree that produces flowers and fruit. The trees grow in areas with high humidity and warm temperate winters, including, Cuba, Mexico, South America, Central America, and in India especially in Kerala.

The Soursop designation is actually the name of the fruit produced by the Soursop tree. The fruit appears in large, heart-shaped forms with yellow-green, spiky skin and white fleshy interior. Much like the name implies the fruit is fairly acidic with a taste that resembles a mix of strawberry and pineapple. Not unlike other types of fruit, Soursop contains essential vitamins and minerals which make for a healthy addition to anyone’s diet.

FERTILIZING
To ensure vigorous growth, apply fertilizers regularly at the onset and end of the rainy season or every 6 months. Fertilizer application can be started a month after planning using ammonium sulfate (21-0-0) at the rate of 100-150 grams per tree. The rate is increased every year until the start of the fruiting stage at which time 250-300 grams of complete fertilizer (14-14-14) is applied. This amount is also increased every year from 1.5 to 3kg plus 200-300 kg of muriate of potash (0-0-60) to ensure the supply of micronutrients, organic fertilizers can be incorporated in the fertilization plan.

HARVESTING
The fruit is picked when fully grown and still firm but slightly yellow-green. If allowed to soften on the tree, it will fall and crush. It is easily bruised and punctured and must be handled with care. Firm fruits are held a few days at room temperature. When eating ripe, they are soft enough to yield to the slight pressure of one\’s thumb. Having reached this stage, the fruit can be held 2 or 3 days longer in a refrigerator. The skin will blacken and become unsightly while the flesh is still unspoiled and usable.

Frequently Asked Questions
I received a damaged product/plant

Reach out to us via email at support@greensofkerala.com or give us a call at +91 9746 999 125.

For a seamless replacement process, we recommend capturing a video or picture while unboxing the parcel. This not only expedites the resolution but also aids us in comprehending the specific types of damages caused by our courier vendors.

Plant dullness or leaf drop due to transit

Occasionally, plants may experience a temporary dullness or leaf drop during transportation due to factors such as insufficient sunlight and water.

Kindly follow our plant care instructions and closely monitor its condition for the next 15-20 days. This period will allow the plant to rejuvenate and regain its strength, returning to a healthy state.

Right time to re-plant after delivery

Immediate repotting or re-planting of delivered plants can induce stress on them.

We recommend maintaining the plants in the original bag upon receipt and consistently watering them for the initial two weeks. Additionally, place the plants in an area with 50% sunlight during this period. After the plants have acclimated to your climate and achieved stability, you may proceed to repot them into larger containers or directly into the field.

Why Cash on Delivery not available?

We regret to inform you that we do not support cash on delivery for plant orders. This decision is based on the fact that in the event of order rejection, it takes a minimum of 15 days for the plants to return to the nursery. This delay poses a risk of permanent damage or loss to the plants.
